Wisconsin's Spring Primary Election Results

Updated: Jun 16, 2021

Yesterday, voters across the state cast their ballots for the spring primary election. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to vote and those who turned in their mail-in ballots - every vote counts, especially at the local level!

WMCA was pleased to support three candidates for the election: Dr. Shandowylon Hendricks for State Superintendent, Mushir Hassan for Elmbrook School Board, and Dr. Maqsood Khan for Franklin Public School Board. Here are the results:

  • While Dr. Hendricks did not make it through the primary, we are proud of the campaign she ran and the issues she brought to the table. She was an advocate for school choice and the Muslim community - we wish her all the success in her next endeavors! Candidates Deb Kerr and Jill Underly will advance to the general election on April 6th.

  • Mushir Hassan won the primary with 39.7% of the votes and will advance to the general election. His opponent received 33.8% of the votes so Mushir will need all the help he can get to win in April! If you are interested in volunteering, send an email to mushir.hassan@gmail.com and be sure to share his Facebook page!

  • Dr. Maqsood Khan won the primary election for Franklin Public School Board where 6 candidates advanced to the general election. The election is packed so Dr. Khan will need help reaching voters across the district. Volunteer to phone bank or send postcards by emailing khanforfranklinschools@yahoo.com. You can also learn more on his website and Facebook page.

WMCA has exciting things to announce soon, including a forum with the Wisconsin State Superintendent candidates: Deb Kerr and Jill Underly. You will have the opportunity to ask the candidates questions and learn more about their plans for Wisconsin students. Follow WMCA on Facebook to be the first to hear about the event!
