At the time of this newsletter, the worst clashes between Palestinians and Israelis since the 2014 war in Gaza are unfolding. Israeli police stormed the al-Aqsa compound on Monday where thousands of worshippers gathered. At least twenty-six Palestinians, including nine children, and two Israelis have been killed since. We mourn with the victims and their families for what they have had to endure during this holy month of Ramadan. Our prayers continue for justice to prevail and we call on American legislators to condemn this state-sanctioned violence and ethnic cleansing. We can't only speak about injustices when it's politically advantageous or when it hits our backyard. A story untold is a story unheard.

WMCA Update
On this final day of Ramadan, we reflect on the impact our organization has made in the Wisconsin Muslim community. Since our establishment in 2019, we have expanded our membership across the state, hosted meaningful forums and events, registered hundreds of new voters, and supported Muslim and allied candidates for office. We are working diligently to scale operations and our impact in 2022 as the elections will shape the future of our community.
We can't do this work without continued support, so please consider making a donation today to help build on these initiatives. If you have already contributed, we THANK YOU! Please keep our leadership and work in your prayers.
We are also proud to announce our sponsorship of the Eid Ul Fitr Festival this Thursday, May 13th! Hosted by the Milwaukee Muslim Women's Coalition outside of the ISM Community Center, this will be a great opportunity to gather with loved ones and enjoy games, a petting zoo, and more!
We are looking for three volunteers to join WMCA's table during the event. You will share about our mission, encourage people to become voters, or event to run for office! This would be a great opportunity to complete required community service hours. Email kristin@wisconsinmuslimcivicalliance.org for more details!
